If the spa is located in an area that is experiencing hot weather, it is normal to have the spa water temperature rise.<\/p>

To help keep your spa cooler, adjust the spa\u2019s filtration cycles to no more than three hours per day, and only one hour per day during the warmer summer months. Set the cycles to run during later evening or early morning hours when the outside air temperature is cooler. During the summer, set only one filter cycle per day.<\/p>

Open the cover for several minutes, long enough to allow the water to cool down. Repeat a couple times weekly as necessary. For safety reasons, never leave your spa unattended with the cover open.<\/p>

If OHH is displayed on the control panel, this means that the thermometer has detected spa water temperature above 110 degrees F. Do not use the spa at this temperature. Take the advised steps above to cool your spa water to below 106 degrees F before use.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If your spa temperature is low, first check the thermostat to see if it has been turned down or set to low heat range. Adjust the thermostat to the desired temperature or set to high heat range.<\/p>

Another common reason for your spa temperature to be low is because the high limit sensor has tripped. Press any button on your control panel to reset the system.<\/p>

If neither of the above steps works, your heating system may be defective. Contact your authorized Bullfrog Spas Dealer for further diagnosis.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If the spa was recently installed, the most common reason the GFCI would trip is the Load Neutral (white wire) between the spa and GFCI which must be connected to the Load Neutral port in the GFCI breaker. If the neutral wire is connected to the neutral busbar, the breaker will trip during startup. The neutral connection must not have contact to the ground on the load side of the breaker or it will trip.<\/p>

If the spa is not tripping immediately upon startup, a process of elimination should be used to identify the problem. Disconnect one component at a time from the control board and try restarting the spa. If the breaker trips, reconnect the component then try again by disconnecting a different component. Continue repeating this process until the breaker does not trip. Components include pumps, heaters, lights, stereos, ozone, etc. If the breaker does not trip after disconnecting the component, then the disconnected component is the source of the problem. Once you have determined which component is at fault, replace the component.<\/p>

If you have not found the source of the problem after disconnecting each spa component individually, disconnect all components from the control board and try starting the spa. If the breaker still trips, a certified electrician will need to inspect the breaker and wiring.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A light vibration noise is normal while the spa pumps and motors are running.<\/p>

If your spa\u2019s vibration noise level seems excessive, the first thing to check for is the spa motor\u2019s shipping bolts. Each spa motor has a shipping bolt that can contribute to the vibrating noise and can be removed once your spa is delivered and installed. The bolts have tags with red lettering for easy identification.<\/p>

If the bolts have been removed and your spa still makes an excessive vibration noise, contact your spa dealer for further assistance.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If your spa pump is creating a burning smell or making excessive noise, the pump motor is defective. This can happen when running the pump during high ambient outside temperatures or due to excessive run times. If your hot tub control pad and spa equipment are not operating, that means you have no electrical power to the spa. Turn on or reset the GFCI circuit breaker to supply the spa with power again. If this does not solve the problem, have a qualified Electrician check the electrical service for issues.<\/p>

If your hot tub jets are surging\u00a0on and off, the first thing to check is your water level as it might be too low. Adjust water to the water level indication mark on the faceplate of the filter assembly.\u00a0<\/p>

Next, check your filters as they may be dirty. If so,\u00a0clean or replace them.\u00a0<\/p>

If your spa\u2019s jets seem weak or are not working, first double-check to make sure that the valves are open.\u00a0JetPaks\u00a0have valves at the bottom that open\u00a0and close\u00a0by turning\u00a0the valve.\u00a0Adjustable jets on M Series, A Series, R Series, and STIL spas open and close by turning the jet face. Adjustable jets on X Series spas open and close by\u00a0turning the outer ring.\u00a0<\/p>

The next thing to check is the suction fitting(s)\u00a0normally located at the bottom of your spa shell\u00a0to see if they are blocked. Remove any debris\u00a0you find by hand or with a spa vacuum.\u00a0<\/p>

If your jets are not working after filling your spa, you most likely have an airlock in the pump. Follow the directions in the \u201chow do I fix an airlock in the pump\u201d section below.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

To prevent airlocks when filling your spa, be sure to open all valves in the JetPaks and all other jets in the spa before filling to allow as much air as possible to escape from the system during the filling process. Fill your spa through the filter by taking the filter cap off and put the hose directly in the filter. Detailed instructions for filling each spa series are found in your owner\u2019s manual.<\/p>

Your hot tub\u2019s pumps must be primed directly after filling to ensure correct operation of your spa and get rid of any airlocks. After initial startup, verify that the home status screen appears on the panel.<\/p>

Depending on your spa model, your spa has either 1,2, or 3 pumps. To prime the pumps, press the \u201cJets 1\u201d button once to prime in low-speed. After the pump turns on and water is visibly flowing from the jets wait a few seconds and then press \u201cJets 1\u201d again to initiate highspeed operation of Pump 1. The pump has primed when water is flowing from the jets.<\/p>

If your spa is equipped with a second jet pump, repeat the priming process for Pump 2 by pressing the \u201cJets 2\u201d button once to turn on low speed and then a second time to turn Pump 2 on high.<\/p>

If your spa has a 3rd pump, press the \u201cJets 3\u201d button to prime the third jet pump. All pumps will have primed when water is observed flowing from the jets associated with each pump.<\/p>

On rare occasions, priming the pumps will not get rid of an airlock. The next step is to remove the front panel and locate the pump with an airlock. The wet-end of the pump has a bleed valve\u2014loosen this until all the air escapes and water starts to drip out, or loosen the union on the pump to let the air out until you see water. Do not attempt this while the spa pump is running. If your jets turn off automatically after either 30 or 60 minutes, this is completely normal. The automatic timer has completed its cycle. Simply turn the pump back on to start a new cycle.<\/p>

Another reason your jets can turn off unexpectedly is if the pump has overheated due to the vents on the equipment door being blocked. Clear away any items from the vents and wait a while to see if your jets work again.<\/p>

The last reason your spa jets can turn off is if the pump motor is defective. In this case, contact your authorized Bullfrog Spas dealer for service.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If you are trying to turn off the pump for jets 1 on your spa and it appears that they are not turning off, your spa is in the middle of a filtration cycle. Spas not equipped with a dedicated filtration pump will turn on automatically, using jet pump 1 on low speed, to filter and\/or heat. This is normal spa operation.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If you notice your spa is losing water, check all fittings and equipment in the equipment compartment for the source of leakage. If a leak is detected, tighten the fitting by hand. The first reason why your hot tub can turn green is from algae growing in the spa. This happens because of a lack of sanitizer (chlorine or bromine). Super sanitize (shock) the spa water to get rid of algae and other growth in the spa.<\/p>

If the spa water has had algae growing for too long of a time, shocking the spa water may not be enough. At that point, you would want to drain your spa, give it a good cleaning, and refill your spa. Be sure to properly maintain your spa pH and sanitizer levels going forward to prevent future algae growth.<\/p>

A second reason why hot tub water can appear green is from metals and minerals in the water (usually copper). Check with your spa dealer about local water conditions to see if your area has copper in the ground water. If this is the case, your dealer will be able to provide custom tips for keeping your spa water clean and clear.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Mold, mildew, and fungus like to grow in warm, damp places. The first step in preventing these from growing in your spa is to maintain your spa water. You should add sanitizer following every use.<\/p>

It\u2019s also important to regularly clean all surfaces on and around your spa, including the cover (the underside and the top), cup holders, headrests, etc. We recommend cleaning those surfaces every 30-45 days.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Cloudy spa water is usually caused by non-filterable liquid waste (e.g. perspiration) and a lack of proper maintenance. First, check your spa\u2019s pH level and adjust if needed. High pH levels are a common cause cloudy water.<\/p>

Next, test your sanitizer (chlorine or bromine) levels. If the sanitizer level is too low, add more. Wait two hours and test the water again. Add more sanitizer as necessary then wait two more hours. Repeat this process until the sanitizer levels consistently read correctly. Always run the pumps for 15 minutes with the cover open after adding any chemicals.<\/p>

If you are using the FROG @ease for Bullfrog Spas water care system, first make sure the SmartChlor cartridge is not empty. Replace the cartridge if necessary. If it is not empty, turn the dial setting up 1 number and monitor chlorine levels for a few days while maintaining water balance. If needed, turn the dial up again. The entire FROG @ease System including a FROG @ease Mineral Cartridge needs to be replaced every four months. Without the minerals, SmartChlor will not be enough to sanitize the hot tub.<\/p>

If your sanitizer levels are generally testing at correct levels and your spa water is still cloudy, you can increase filtration times to see if that helps.<\/p>

You may also want to clean or replace the filters if you have not done so recently.<\/p>

    *The following information is for Bullfrog Spas model years 2019 and newer. Please refer to the owner\u2019s manual for your spa for the most accurate information.<\/p>

    The best filter cycle for your situation will depend on how often you use the spa and what time of day you typically use the spa. The two most common modes are Standard-beginner and Super Energy Savings. The factory default setting is Super Energy Saver mode.<\/p>

    In the descriptions of each mode below, \u201ceconomy mode\u201d means that the set point will be reduced by 20\u00b0F* (11\u00b0C), which means that the heating system will not be engaged unless the temperature falls to 20\u00b0F (11\u00b0C) below the spa\u2019s set temperature. The filtration schedule shown on the screen will apply to the main filtration pump. If your spa uses a circulation pump configured to run 24 hours, the screen will show you the purge setting instead of filtration. The purges are pre-programmed for a fixed number of minutes; therefore, the duration will be set to N\/A on the screen, and only the start time can be modified.<\/p>

    \u00a0<\/p>

    Away<\/strong>
    In Away mode, the spa temperature set point will be reduced by 20\u00b0F (11\u00b0C) (see description of \u201cEconomy mode\u201d above). Spa will remain in Economy mode at all times of the day and all days of the week.<\/p>

    Suggested use: Use when on vacation or not using the spa for longer than 2 weeks.<\/p>

    Economy time: Every day of the week, 24 hours per day.<\/p>

    Filter cycle start time: 8:00 PM, duration 3 hours.<\/p>

    Standard-beginner<\/strong>
    In Standard mode, the spa will heat to the set point and filter according to the spa\u2019s standard configuration. Spa will heat to set point at all times and all days of the week. This is the default setting on new spas.<\/p>

    Suggested use: Use to maintain readiness for use every day at all times of day.<\/p>

    Economy time: Will not use Economy mode.<\/p>

    Filter cycle start times: 8:00 AM, duration 1.5 hours and 8:00 PM, duration 1.5 hours.<\/p>

    Energy Savings<\/strong>

    Suggested use: Use to save energy during weekday daytime hours and make ready for use at night and all day on weekends.<\/p>

    Economy time: Monday \u2013 Friday, 6:00 AM \u2013 6:00 PM.<\/p>

    Filter cycle start time: 7:00 PM, duration 3 hours.<\/p>

    Super Energy Savings (factory default setting)<\/strong>
    In Super Energy Savings mode, the spa temperature set point will be reduced by 20\u00b0F (11\u00b0C) (see description of \u201cEconomy mode\u201d above) during peak daytime hours. Spa will heat to normal set point during evening hours, every day of the week.<\/p>

    Suggested use: Use to save maximum energy and heat only during set filter cycles.<\/p>

    Economy time: Will not use Economy mode, only heats during filtration cycles.<\/p>

    Filter cycle start time: 8:00 AM, duration 1.5 hours and 8:00 PM, duration 1.5 hours.<\/p>

    Weekender<\/strong>
    In Weekender mode, the spa temperature set point will be reduced by 20\u00b0F (11\u00b0C) (see description of \u201cEconomy mode\u201d above) from Monday to Friday. Spa will heat to set point at all times on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday).<\/p>

    Suggested use: Use when spa is used only on weekends and not on weekdays.<\/p>

    Economy time: Monday \u2013 Friday, 24 hours per day.<\/p>

    Filter cycle start time: 8:00 AM, duration 1.5 hours and 8:00 PM, duration 1.5 hours.<\/p>

    Default Settings: The Default Settings option will restore all Water Care modes and schedules to the spa\u2019s default settings. You will be asked to confirm your choice.<\/p>

    NOTE: Spas NOT equipped with a dedicated filtration pump will turn on automatically, using jet pump 1 on low speed, to filter and\/or heat. This is normal spa operation.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    Step 1: Turn off the main electrical breaker to spa.<\/p>

    Step 2: Locate the drain below the equipment compartment door.<\/p>

    Step 3: Pull the drain out with a slight clockwise turn. Use pliers if needed. The drain is fully extended at approximately 2 inches (5 centimeters).<\/p>

    Step 4: Remove drain cap. The drain spout will not drain when fully extended.<\/p>

    Step 5: Attach a standard garden hose. Push the drain spout in halfway to actuate the drain. The Spa will drain about 5 gallons (20 liters) per minute. Ensure that the drainage is in an area safely away from window wells or basement entries.<\/p>

    Step 6: Once the spa is fully drained, pull the drain spout out all the way, remove the hose, replace the drain cap, and push the drain in all the way.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    Step 1: Remove trim strips from trim channels by pulling carefully and firmly, working from the bottom of the trim strip to the top. Place trim strips aside.<\/p>

    Step 2: Remove door \u2013 Carefully pull bottom of door out toward you. Carefully grab the bottom corner of the door and pull it out enough that you can slip your other hand in behind the side of the door about 4-5 inches (10-13 cm) up from the bottom. From there you will pull the door firmly away from the spa until the snap on the door pulls out of the snap feature in the rib. Continue to pull the door away until the second snap on the other side pulls out. The door can then be dropped out of the groove on top and removed from the spa.<\/p>

    Step 3: Electrical Disconnect \u2013 be sure to disconnect any lighting or any other electrical wiring that is mounted onto the door before completely removing it.<\/p>

    STIL Door Removal<\/strong><\/p>

    STIL spas are designed so that there are no visible fasteners from the exterior. Snap features in the corners and the cabinet panels allow for simple equipment area access, however, it is important to follow these recommended door removal instructions to avoid damaging the door or corner panels.<\/p>

    Step 1: Remove Corners \u2013 It is important to remove the front two corners overlapping the door before attempting to remove the door itself. This is done by placing a short flathead screwdriver below the corner and slipping it up partway behind the corner and using it as a lever to pry out the bottom half of the corner outward. Once this is done, grab the corner by the bottom and pull it straight out allowing the top snap to come free. Pull corner down and out of the groove on the top.<\/p>

    Step 2: Remove Door \u2013 Once both front corners are removed, look on each side of the front door to see the snap feature built into the cabinet. To remove the door, start by placing a longer flathead screwdriver or short pry bar into the center of the snap feature and use it as a lever to pop the door out of the first snap. Grab the base of the door and carefully begin pulling it out such that the rest of the snaps come free one by one across the length of the door. The door can then be dropped out of the groove on top and removed from the spa.<\/p>

    Step 3: Electrical Disconnect \u2013 be sure to disconnect any lighting or any other electrical wiring that is mounted onto the door before completely removing it.<\/p>

    STIL Door Installation<\/strong><\/p>

    Step 1: Electrical \u2013Reconnect any lighting or electrical devices on the door before installing.<\/p>

    Step 2: Door \u2013 Slip the upper lip of the door into the top groove of the extrusion. Lower the door while gently pushing on it until you feel the snaps line up with the snap features in the ribs. Starting from one side, force the first snap into place. Continue down the length of the door and forcefully push the cabinet into each of the snaps until the door is completely in and secured. You can feel along the bottom to make sure all are in place and no gaps are present.<\/p>

    Step 3: Corner \u2013 Slip the upper lip of the corner into the top groove of the spa. Starting from the top force the first snap into place, if the corner has slipped down and is not flush with the top groove this is the best time to push it back up into place. Continue down the length of the corner and forcefully push it into each of the snaps until the corner is completely secured. The corner should fit tightly against the cabinet on both sides.<\/p>

    \u00a0<\/p>

    A, R, & X Series Door Removal<\/strong><\/p>
